A high tech computer with a 3D golf software, combined with a projector, a big linen, and enough space. All these devises together for a golf simulator.
Amateurs use these golf simulators to play some golf in their free time, when they come home from work and do not have enough time to go 18 holes on a real golf court or if the weather is bad.
Professional golfers in contrast use these golf simulators to learn certain golf courses by heard and to memorize them. Before they are playing a big tournament they use simulators, but also other computer games and programs. This training helps them in the tournament to always know, in which position they are exactly and what they have to do from there. They know how the court looks and always know where the flag exactly is.

Besides these golf simulators, also the famous computer game Tiger Woods golfing is a good tool to "walk" the most famous and most difficult courses in the world.

This kind of technology is truly an advancement to the game of golf, especially on the professional side, as all the players have the advantage to practice and memorize the courses, prior to the big day. These players gain a big advantage and in general puts a higher standard to reach, in professional golf tournaments.now to compete, one must have the financial resources to afford a simulator, to have as much practice, because otherwise the rest of the opponents would have already memorized the course, and you would not be as prepared as them.
ReplyDeleteI think that in professional golf, everybody has enough financial resources, to buy such a golf simulator.
ReplyDeleteIn the office, I worked some years ago, they had such a golf simulator and it was amazing. During lunch break and after work, where you wouldn't have time to go golfing, or in winter times, where the weather wouldn't allow it, you could spend half an our, "walking" over the best golf course in the world. This was a completely new way, how to experience golf. But I also see a downside of the medal. I think in todays computer generation, many kids would rather spend the hole day alone in front of a simulator than to go outside with friends and to be social...
The really big advantage of these kinds of simulators and computer games is that they can be used to promote this sport, not only in the professionals but also in the golf’s fans. The simulators represent a good way to maintain the fans of this sport interested and also permit them not only learn about golf and practice it in a different and funny way. They can play in free time and have another perspective on the way golf can be entertaining for them. In other hand, as it was mentioned it represent an excellence opportunity to practice for professional golfers getting a better performance in the real tournament. These simulators are a very interesting way in which technology can support sports; I agree with Johann this is a completely new way of how to experience golf.
ReplyDeleteI think that simulations are great in order to give a more sensitive approach to the game. In my opinion will boost the quality of the game farther making it greater to watch. This idea has been succesfully implemented with Formula one.
ReplyDeleteI imagine this is one of the best improvements for golf fans. Can you imagine playing your favourite sport in your living room?
ReplyDeleteFrom the players point of view this is fantastic, since they can learn the courses by heart with all the comfort they can have from being at home, regardless of the weather.
